We Hear U
What is it?
This free program offered at Mountain Youth has been adapted for the Eagle County community from Active Parenting of Teens, an evidence-based program designed to help families survive and thrive. It focuses on active communication, parenting styles, logical consequences, mutual respect, and more.
How does it work?
Once a referral is made, a facilitator will meet with one or more families in a 3hr core session at a time that works well for the families. A meal is provided, as well as childcare if needed. After the core session, up to three 1hr follow up sessions can be scheduled. These follow up sessions are usually two weeks apart to see how things have progressed, discuss what the family is working on, and provide additional accountability and support.
Most of referrals for We Hear U come from counselors within the Eagle County School District, but community members can sign up for the program themselves, as well. While our facilitators are not licensed counselors, they are certified in training on parenting and communication, and can provide sessions in both English and Spanish.
